Features
Ride-Height Corrected Caster Geometry – Unlike many aftermarket upper control arms built around a fixed geometry intended for one specific lift or leveling range, the Axiom control arm has been engineered with caster correction built directly into the arm geometry. This provides improved alignment capability across a wide range of ride heights from stock-height trucks to leveled and lifted applications while helping maintain proper steering feel, stability, and suspension operation.
True Double-Shear Construction – Built from identical upper and lower 3/16" steel plates that are precision laser cut and hand welded into a single rigid structure. By supporting the ball joint mounting area from both sides, this true double-shear design distributes suspension loads more effectively while maximizing strength, rigidity, and long-term durability.
Equipped with AX6292 Grade 12.9 Ball Joints – Every kit includes a pair of Axiom Supply AX6292 Bolt-On Upper Ball Joints featuring our Grade 12.9 Extreme-Duty Ball Stud technology for exceptional strength, steering precision, and resistance to deformation under heavy loads.
Corrected Suspension Geometry – Engineered to improve upper ball joint operating angles on stock, leveled, and lifted GM HD trucks while restoring usable suspension travel and maintaining proper alignment characteristics.
Increased Droop Travel – Improved control arm and ball joint geometry allows additional downward suspension movement compared with the limitations commonly encountered with the factory upper control arm at increased ride heights.
Improved Alignment Capability – Increased usable caster and camber adjustment helps alignment technicians properly set up trucks across a broader range of suspension heights and configurations.
Dual-Position Ball Joint Mounting – Allows the ball joint to be mounted above or below the control arm mounting plate, providing additional flexibility when optimizing ball joint angle, suspension geometry, and alignment.
Precision Laser-Cut Components – Manufactured using computer-designed, laser-cut steel components for exceptional fitment consistency and manufacturing accuracy.
Service-Friendly Design – Improved grease fitting access simplifies routine maintenance and lubrication regardless of control arm orientation.
Premium Bushing System – High-quality bushings and sleeves provide smooth articulation while minimizing unwanted suspension deflection.
Built for Heavy-Duty Use – Engineered to withstand the demands of towing, oversized tires, lifted suspension systems, off-road use, and daily driving.
Lifetime Warranty Protection – Backed by the Axiom No-Nonsense Lifetime Warranty for the original purchaser.
Description
The Axiom Supply Heavy-Duty Upper Control Arm System for GM HD Trucks was developed to solve one of the biggest compromises found in both factory and many aftermarket upper control arm designs: suspension geometry that becomes increasingly unfavorable as ride height changes.
The factory torsion-bar suspension used on the 2001-2010 Silverado and Sierra HD platform is extremely capable, but increasing front ride height through torsion keys, leveling kits, or suspension modifications changes upper ball joint angles, reduces available droop travel, and can make proper alignment increasingly difficult.
Many aftermarket upper control arms address this by building a predetermined amount of correction into the arm based around a specific leveling or lift range. While this can work well at the intended height, that same geometry may not be ideal when the truck is configured differently.
Axiom approached the design differently.
The caster geometry of the Axiom Upper Control Arm System has been specifically engineered to provide usable alignment correction across a broad range of ride heights, making the arm equally suited for stock-height, leveled, and lifted GM HD applications.
Rather than forcing the suspension into a geometry optimized around only one specific ride height, the Axiom design provides the alignment technician with the usable caster range needed to properly set up the truck based on its actual suspension configuration.
The result is improved straight-line stability, steering return-to-center, suspension articulation, tire contact, and overall driving characteristics while preserving the flexibility required for trucks that may change suspension height or wheel and tire configurations over time.
At the core of the design is Axiom's true double-shear construction, utilizing matching upper and lower 3/16" steel plates. Once precision laser cut and hand welded into a single structural assembly, these matching plates support the ball joint mounting area from both sides rather than relying on a single mounting surface.
This creates an exceptionally rigid control arm capable of distributing suspension loads more evenly through the ball joint area while reducing flex under heavy steering and suspension loads.
Each control arm system comes equipped with Axiom Supply AX6292 Bolt-On Upper Ball Joints featuring our Grade 12.9 Extreme-Duty Ball Stud technology.
The AX6292 provides exceptional stud strength while maintaining a fully serviceable bolt-in design, allowing the ball joint to be replaced independently without replacing the entire control arm.
Axiom's dual-position ball joint mounting design provides another level of suspension setup flexibility. Depending on ride height and suspension configuration, the ball joint can be installed above or below the mounting plate to help optimize operating angle, articulation, and suspension travel.
Premium bushings, precision sleeves, improved grease-fitting access, corrosion-resistant construction, and fully serviceable components complete a control arm system designed for long-term heavy-duty use.
Whether your GM HD is stock height, torsion-key leveled, running a larger suspension system, towing every day, or built around oversized tires and aggressive off-road use, the Axiom Supply Heavy-Duty Upper Control Arm System delivers the caster correction, suspension geometry, strength, travel, alignment capability, and serviceability required to properly build the front suspension around the truck—not around a predetermined lift height.
Ball Joint Interchange
The included Axiom Supply AX6292 utilizes the common aftermarket bolt-in upper ball joint pattern associated with:
K6292
MOOG K6292
The AX6292 is a serviceable bolt-in ball joint designed specifically for compatible aftermarket GM HD upper control arms.
Note: K6292 interchange applies to the bolt-in ball joint used with compatible aftermarket upper control arms. It is not the same design as the factory press-in upper ball joint used in the original stamped GM control arm.
Maintenance
Apply approximately 3 pumps of grease to each ball joint during installation.
For continued performance, service each ball joint every 5,000-7,000 miles.
Use only the amount of grease necessary to properly lubricate the joint and avoid over-greasing.
Periodically inspect control arm bushings, ball joints, mounting hardware, and suspension components, particularly on vehicles used off-road or equipped with oversized tires.
