This track bar is designed for applications where the track bar ball joint is pressed into the front axle housing and the passenger-side end of the track bar installs over the tapered ball-joint stud.

2017+ F-450 / F-550 Fitment Note

Certain 2017 and newer F-450 and F-550 trucks may use a different factory track bar and ball-joint configuration.

Before ordering for a 2017+ F-450 or F-550, verify the factory track bar configuration.

This track bar is correct for trucks where the track bar ball joint is pressed into the front axle housing.

If the factory ball joint is instead pressed directly into the passenger-side end of the track bar, verify compatibility before installation, as that application may require a different track bar design.

Do not determine fitment based solely on pickup, chassis-cab, SRW, or DRW configuration. The location and style of the factory track bar ball joint should be physically verified on applicable 2017+ F-450 and F-550 trucks.

The track bar ball joint is not included with this track bar.

For replacement of the factory-style track bar ball joint, use Axiom Supply AX500262 Track Bar Ball Joint, sold separately.

Track bar adjustment should be performed with the truck sitting at normal ride height.

A front-end alignment should be checked after installation or after any significant change in suspension ride height.

Description

The Axiom Supply Adjustable Front Track Bar is designed for 2005-2016 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty 4WD trucks, as well as compatible 2005-2026 Ford F-450 and F-550 Super Duty 4WD applications.

The front track bar controls the lateral position of the solid front axle beneath the truck.

When the front suspension is leveled or lifted, the factory fixed-length track bar travels through an arc as ride height increases. Because the factory track bar cannot change length, this change in operating angle can cause the front axle to shift toward one side of the chassis.

Even relatively small changes in front suspension height can affect axle position.

The Axiom Supply Adjustable Front Track Bar allows the installer to correct this shift and precisely recenter the axle beneath the truck.

Proper axle positioning helps maintain suspension geometry, steering response, tire clearance, tracking, and overall front suspension operation.

F-450 / F-550 Track Bar Configuration

Certain later-model F-450 and F-550 trucks may use more than one factory track bar configuration.

This Axiom Supply track bar is designed for applications where the track bar ball joint is pressed into the front axle housing and the track bar connects to the tapered ball-joint stud.

Some 2017+ F-450 and F-550 applications may instead use a configuration where the ball joint is installed directly into the passenger-side end of the track bar.

Because these two designs are different, owners of 2017+ F-450 and F-550 trucks should verify their factory ball-joint location before ordering.

If the track bar installs over a ball-joint stud protruding from the axle housing, this is the correct configuration for this Axiom Supply Adjustable Track Bar.

Track Bar Ball Joint

The track bar ball joint is a separate serviceable suspension component and is not included with this track bar.

The existing ball joint may be reused if it is in good condition and has no excessive movement or wear.

For trucks requiring replacement during installation, use:

Installing a new track bar with a worn track bar ball joint may leave unwanted movement in the front suspension. Inspect the ball joint during installation and replace it when necessary.

Why an Adjustable Track Bar Matters

The factory track bar is fixed in length.

When front ride height is increased, the track bar angle changes and the axle moves laterally beneath the chassis.

An adjustable track bar allows the effective length of the track bar to be changed so the front axle can be properly repositioned beneath the truck.
